China trip Date : 01.09.06 - Days 14-15
Sacha woke up just gone 9 am today. Gave her baby cereal with a mashed banana for breakfast. She seems to be eating quite well lately.
Have found out from John that this IV drip that Sacha has been receiving since she has been here is not Nerve Growth Factor as this is yellow, is actually MVE, however we are still uncertain what it is exactly for, Dr Wang says it is used to aid growth, some confusion over this so Jon and and I looked on the Internet to find out some more information without any joy so he will look further and explain. The Nerve Growth Factor is actually mixed in with the Stem cells within the drip.
After giving her medication we took her out for a walk in the park opposite the hospital. She seemed really happy making noises and trying to talk.
Physio at 3p.m. She became bored lying down, kept trying to get up so we had to hold her down and keep her amused with anything to make her happy, we usually get a laugh when she hears a loud noise or when she plays a screaming game with Rebecca!
I am trying to comprehend all the pros and cons of Sacha’s next injection in a weeks time, there is a possibility of drilling a hole to the brain without any anaesthetic, however this could prove to be very dangerous as there will be a fear of drilling into an artery if she moves in the process. Sacha could could have general anaesthetic but it seems a big thing over here and the recovery is long, stretching over 3 days and will also cost extra. The doctors are looking into the best and safest option for Sacha now.
Day 15
9.30 a.m Acupuncture. No crying from Sacha today.
10.00 Sacha has her last IV, which up to now we all thought was Nerve Growth Factor but is actually MVE (still unsure of its properties).
Sacha is due her next injection of stem cells via IV tomorrow, which is to be fed through the hand or foot. I asked Jon about the deterioration of Sacha’s eyesight and he mentioned that the Iv stem cells have an opportunity to travel through the large blood vessels to her eyes, so in theory this could really help.
Most of the day we stayed in the hospital as we were all a little tired, took Sacha along to physio and palyed our usual games to keep her amused.
I asked Jon how many hits Sacha’s Blog has so far, was really amazed to find the statistics; Sacha is the second most visited Blog on the site with over 800 readers!!… so go tell more people and lets get her to the top!.
So many people have offered time and energy to support Sacha we have made a 'big' thank you page. Do tell us if we have missed you off the list!
